Atheist Community of San Jose is funding a humanist clinic at Kanyenze Primary School in Uganda

The organization “Atheist Community of San Jose” is funding a humanist clinic at Kanyenze Humanist Primary School, in Kyarumba, Uganda, through the Brighter Brains Institute.

They have donated $1500 to BBI, which will be spent on funding the clinic for one year.

The majority of the donation was made by Werner Haag, with $100 donated by Jim Laffer. Both are members of the Atheist Community of San Jose. Werner is also considering going to Uganda with other BBI members next June. He is a chemist who knows about clean water systems; this skill will be immensely appreciated by the many schools that BBI helps, who do not have easy access to clean water.

The name of the clinic at Kanyenze Primary School will be changed to “San Jose Atheists Health Clinic.”

Kanyenze is a small school of 125 children, run by the Kanyenze Women’s Group. They have received quite a bit of help from BBI recently. Two months ago, BBI Board member Bob Pellissier gave them $3000 to set up a Motorcycle Repair Shop in Kyarumba Trading Center; money generated from this business will be used to feed the children at the school.

BBI thanks the generosity of the Atheist Community of San Jose, and of Werner Haag and Jim Laffer, and we are hoping for a long partnership with this atheist organization.
