This is a brief report showing cases of patients experienced in these two weeks period in the RACHEL LYN EDLER-CLINIC. From the daily records of the cases, it shows that the clinic has so far received 92 patients. These conditions therefore, are indicated in the table below:-
|Diseases/Conditions||Number of patients|
|RTI (Respiratory Truct Infections)||46|
|PUD (Paptic Ulcer Disease)||16|
|Difficult in swallowing (Dysphagia)||01|
|Body ring warms||02|
As seen from the above table, respiratory truct infections (RTI) is more infectious during summer season as the area is very dry and dirsty and children easily acquire cough, flu which attack the respiratory system brought by the prolonged condition of dryness with some times storm in the area.
The next common disease is peptic-ulcers disease (PUD). This is known to have happened due to most of the families having a single meal in a day. So children stay in school with empty stomach and eat late in the evening when they reach home after the stomach walls have been destroyed by too much acid.
This is followed by malaria which could also be lack of having treated mosquito nets for children to sleep under to spread away the disease.
Wounds are also said to have increased due to children move bear footed since most of them have no shoes and therefore time and again knock the stones and staple in sharp instruments.
Finally, diarrhea is also a threat in our school though it still has less cases but it’s dangerous. This I see is due to having a poor latrine and lack of hand washing facilities and dustbins in the school.
In conclusion we really thank you very much for your support that is bringing change and building a very good name and image in the community of Nyakiyumbu.
I therefore remain
The school nurse attendant.
