Villagers in Buhanga, a tiny village in the Ruwenzori foothills, are quickly digging a three-mile long trench to bring water to their thirsty community.
The pipe that will be inserted into the trench was purchased by Brighter Brains Institute (BBI), via funds received from Darren Muise of Montreal.
Buhanga has no freshwater source, and many in the community (especially children) are often sick from drinking unclean water in stagnant ponds near the village. To remedy this predicament, Buhanga villagers will bring fresh water down from higher up on the mountain. The pipe has to be laid carefully so it all flows consistently downhill.
The villagers in Buhanga volunteered their labor in this effort.
