Pipes have been purchased to bring water to Buhanga, Uganda.
This Thursday, April 6, the villagers will start digging a 2.5 mile long trench to put the pipe in, so that fresh water from a stream up the mountain can be delivered to the village.
Buhanga is a 3 mile walk into the Ruwenzori mountains, from the market town of Kyarumba. Access is only via a foot trail - no road. The people of Buhanga have been walking for two hours daily to get fresh water. Thirsty children have been drinking stagnant water and getting ill.
Darren Muise, a generous donor in Montreal, Canada, donated $3,000 last week to help the people of Buhanga buy piping. Brighter Brains Institute wired the money to the Buhanga Women Collective’s bank account, and the purchase was made.
Additional photos below show the children of Mother Givers School in Buhanga, eating lunch.
Thank you, Darren Muise, for your generosity!
