Pearl Vocational Training College welcomes volunteers!
Volunteers can be helped in all that is needed by one or two or three of our young trainers who stay at the college.
It is great if volunteers are involved in teaching or sharing a skill at the college. Ours is a safe place, we have had interns and volunteers from UK and Belgium staying at Pearl last year including Lily Rice among others. Their stays are always very fruitful.
If you want to be a volunteer, there are just a few questions:
1. How old are you?
2. What skill can you offer?
3. What are your main interests?
4.When would you want to come and for how long will you want to stay with us?
At Pearl, we have Pearl Girls Football Club, we have a music club where lots of dancing and singing is done, we also do some agriculture.
We teach courses such as Hairdressing, Tailoring, Art and Craft making,Computer Studies, Events Management and Decorations. We are introducing Nursery Teaching and Building and Construction this semester. We support young mothers between 15 and 25 years though we have a women group that we train in Income Generating Skills.
We have a total of 26 students now as the rest of the finalists have gone for internship. Only five students stay at the college, the place is lovely though.
We are three hours away from Kampala the capital city and one hour from the airport ( that is if there is no jam). I do not have a car in Kampala but I can organise to pick volunteers up and take them from and to airport. We have always done this.
