BBI will offer sex ed, condoms, and birth control advice at our clinics in Kahendero and Garama

Brighter Brains Institute will offer sex education classes, with free condoms, and birth control advice, at two of its clinics.

The two clinics are Jane Shrimpton Clinic at BiZoHa Nursery School - Kahendero, and our new clinic at Garama Humanist Seconday School in Kisinga.

The Jane Shrimpton Clinic is in an ideal place for sex education classes, because Kahendero is a community with a high rate of HIV/AIDS, plus there are many women and girls there engaged in prostitution. BBI will be offering a class for the latter group that helps girls and women transition from prostitution to safer occupations.

The BBI clinic at Garama Humanist Secondary School will provide condoms to the teenagers there, and to teens at nearby secondary schools. Youth in Uganda sometimes have difficulty obtaining condoms due to discouragement from the powerful Anglican and Catholic church. The consequence? An average of six girls per year at Garama experience unwanted pregnancies.

The sex education teacher at Garama will be Rhonah Amutuhaire (photo below)

Another intention of BBI is to offer Fistula operations at both locations. We are presently looking into the cost of hiring a surgeon to perform this repair, plus the cost of the essential supplies.
