Today, December 3, 2014, was closing day at Kasese Humanist Primary School, to mark the end of Term 3. Several events were held to commemorate the closure - among them was our top nursery class graduation - they will be joining Primary One next year.
We also had a 101 talk with KHPS PARENTS, who were entertained by the different classes at the school with songs, plays, and a fashion and modeling display that tastefully spiced up the occasion.
Today our parents picked up the report cards for students - they learned how their children have been doing academically.
We presented awards at a staff meeting, and various high profile individuals of the Kasese United Humanist Association plus the School Director himself, graced the occasion by thanking everyone for their hard work and commitment in teaching the children and maintaining the school purpose and profile.
The School Director distributed special gifts from KidsHeartKids. Included in the presents were soap, sugar, and a special meal for all the teachers - plus a bonus to insure that the school term closes without any teacher demanding any arrears. The teachers and staff at KHPS thanked Mario Mouton and the entire crew at KidsHeartKids for offering this package - it meant a lot to them.
The community of Railway also requested the school managers to keep KHPS Railway School open in spite the fact that KHPS’s permanent home in Rukoki is now complete. The School Director pledged to try all he can to ensure that the Railway campus remains open as we also consolidate, mobilize, and publicize our new campus in our effort to extend service delivery to people in communities around Kasese. The plight of sponsored children is an additional factor - we are concerned that some children will lose their help if we close the railway campus.
The school reopens its doors officially on 2nd February 2015 for the new academic year.
Attached are images of the events as they were unfolding, and a report card from the girl that Brighter Brains Institute is sponsoring.
