Integrated Aid Initiative partners with BBI to deliver food and blankets to Almajiri boys

Posted: Tue, January 30, 2018 | By: Nigeria

Integrated Aid is a Nigerian National Organization based in Maiduguri, Borno State. Child Education is their primary concern, and they have partnered with Brighter Brains Institute to abolish the Almajiri System.

BBI’s contact with Integrated Aid is via Salisu Ibrahim Sheriff, Head of Program,

Salisu has also explained to us that “the current security situation we are facing in the North Eastern Nigeria is as result of the Almajiri System. Boko Haram got all its foot soldiers from the system without any resistance from the government or Almajiri teachers/Imam who are supposed to supervise the children in their custody… Boko Haram recruitment of soldiers is easy due to large presence of Almajiri presence in every street in the north east Nigeria. Almajiri children are normally hired for dirty jobs, and criminality…

Integrated Aid has offered to “support [BBI] with pictures, Video interviews, data, and anything relevant required to change history in Nigeria.”

Below are photos from their recent visit to an Almajiri school - where they distributed blankets and food provided by BBI.

(There is also a video of this that we will present soon)
