Wrote “Local Intelligence,” a weekly column in the San Francisco edition of the New York Times that covered the history and culture of fascinating landmarks in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Wrote two weekly columns for the San Francisco Chronicle online publication. One column - “Odd Barkings” – examined SF Bay Area culture; the other - “Urban Animals” – was devoted to pets and wildlife of the region.

Nonprofit that supports health, education and economic sustainability in in rural Uganda. Built fifteen classrooms, one orphanage, established 16 clinics, provides services to 3,000 children, helped launch a computer school, a pig farm, two chicken farms, and a motorcycle rental shop. Designed secular curriculum for eight schools, teaching values like ethnic and religious tolerance, and women’s equality.

Managing Director Institute for Ethics & Emerging Technology 2009—present

Managing Director for a bioethics think tank that publishes articles on ethics concerns in innovative science and technology. Topics include Artificial Intelligence, robotics, prosthetics, artificial wombs, cosmetic surgery, “genius babies”, drone warfare). Guided editorial vision, managed workflow, communicated with Fellows, Board, Trustees, Advisors, edited submissions of 60+ academic experts.
