Sanitary pads are extremely important to rural Ugandan girls. The cost is often prohibitive, so Brighter Brains Institute (BBI) provides them for free, to the school that it sponsors in the Rwenzori mountain region of western Uganda.
Without these pads, the girls might miss several days of school, and they might drop out of school entirely.
The girls in the photos below attend Mother Givers School in Buhanga. It is an isolated, small rural town, 5 miles (by trail only) uphill from the market center of Kyarumba. There is no road access to Buhanga. Mother Givers School has 215 students. BBI provides free sanitary pads to all girls there who have reached puberty.
The girls below are holding products they received via a donation from Henri and Dianne Pellissier, of Davis, California. Henri and Dianne are the parents of Bob Pellissier, who provides a clinic for Mother Givers School. The clinic is called “Pellissier Student health Center.”
Thank you Henri and Dianne for your kind contribution.
