Meredith Newman Debens - a consistent and generous contributor to Brighter Brains Institute - has just donated $1,000 for the construction of a classroom at Mother Givers Humanist School.
The classroom will be called “Future Path Classroom” - to represent the hope for a better future gained via education.
Meredith Newman Debens is a former librarian and teacher who lives in Australia. Brighter Brains Institute (BBI) is very thrilled to have her helping us, and we are hoping that she will offer us advice n how to improve instruction at our four new humanist schools in Kyarumba, western Uganda.
Mother Givers Humanist School is located in Buhanga, in the foothills of the Ruwenzori mountains. It has no road access; it can only be reached via a trail, that started 7 kilometers downhill in the market center of Kyarumba.
The school presently consists of only “temporary” buildings made of mud and branches. (see below) These frail structures often melt away after a particularly rainy season. BBI and Mother Givers are very excited to get the new funding which will create the first permanent, brick building for the school.
There are 210 children in attendance here.
Thank you, Meredith!
