Yesterday Davida LeComte donated to Mother Givers Humanist School, to provide the hungry children there with a lunch everyday, for one school term. The planned lunch would be corn meal, beans, tomatoes, and onions.
Today, generous Davida added an additional funds to the food budget. The extra money will add chicken and goat to the menu - yummy! The goat meat and chicken will be purchased from neighbors in Buhanga.
The extra money will also be spent on adding (in Davida’s words) - “the occasional green vegetable or fruit to the kids lunches.”
Davida and BBI are continuing to investigate various long-term plans, such as “the possibility of having goats at the school to milk in the future, or to raise for meat.”
Another plan is to “start some sort of ‘feed the children’ program… encouraging folks to donate on a monthly basis.”
Davida recognizes that her donation is just, “a temporary fix… we need to do something to raise money for their food on a consistent basis and/or figure out a way to be more sustainable.”
Davida, BBI, and the Buhanga Women are discussing together, what can be done to improve the school’s finances so that the children can have a healthy lunch.
thank you Davida!
