Brighter Brains Institute sends 400 Audiobooks and CDs to Appalachia

Posted: Thu, December 07, 2017 | By: Appalachia

Brighter Brains Institute is sending 200 audiobooks and 200 music CDs to Owsley County Public Library, in Booneville, Kentucky.

Owlsley County is the poorest county in the USA. It is in eastern Kentucky, the Appalachian region that is troubled by opiate addiction and unemployment.

In previous decades, there were tobacco and coal industries, but nowadays, the region lacks economic opportunity.

The 200 audiobooks were donated by a Southern California contributor—the 200 music CDs were donated by a resident in Piedmont, California - were BBI is headquartered.
