Children and teachers were ecstatic at Bwethe Primary School recently, due to the arrival of an electric piano.
The musical instrument was a gift from Bob Pellissier and Cindy Pellissier, who visited the school with three other family members in mid-November. Bob and Cindy were thrilled by the musical ability of the children, and they spontaneously announced at a welcoming ceremony that he would purchase the school a piano to further encourage their ability.
Bwethe is a remote Ruwenzori (“Mountains of the Moon”) village that can only be reached by foot trail. There is no electricity in the village, so the electric piano will be charged via a solar panel and battery, also donated by Bob Pellissier and Cindy Pellissier.
These generous donors have also set up a Music Classroom in the nearby town of Kyarumba. The Music Classroom is regularly use by students at Visions Care School and Rays of Light Orphanage School, but it is also available to everyone in the town of 10,000 residents.
Bwethe is in a beautiful location, high on a ridge between two steep valleys that are intensively farmed with coffee, cassava, and other crops. Brighter Brains Institute also has an “H+ Clinic” in Bwethe.
Bwethe is the first stop on a mountain trail that leads to two other small mountain schools that Bob Pellissier and Cindy Pellissier are also assisting - St. Michael’s and Kabingo.
