BiZoHa: the World’s First Atheist Orphanage!—How Can We Help?

Posted: Mon, April 13, 2015 | By: BiZoHa Orphanage Humanist School

BiZoHa, the world’s first atheist orphanage, was launched on February 26, 2015 when four Active Fellows of the Brighter Brains Institute (a think-and-do tank in the SF Bay Area) posted a GoFundMe campaign that generated $5,820 in just 29 hours.

Since that time the BiZoHa onsite director - Bwambale Robert Musubaho - has assembled a crew that is building structures quickly on the land in Kasese province, in western Uganda. A latrine (30 feet deep) has also been constructed. The orphanage is situated on 7 acres of agricultural land, on a busy highway where a roadside stand can be profitable. BiZoHa intends to be self-sufficient via finances raised through this roadside stand, that can sell coffee, drinks, and produce from the large garden the orphanage will cultivate.

The four Active Fellows of the Brighter Brains that instigated the orphanage are Bwambale Robert Musubaho (director of the orphanage), Biba Kavass (Secretary of the Brighter Brains Institute), Zoltan Istvan (he wrote the MotherboardVICE article that garnered the donations), and Hank Pellissier (program director of Brighter Brains Institute.)

Bwambale Robert Musubaho is also the director of the nearby Kasese Humanist Primary School, (KHPS) an extremely successful school that has received assistance from Atheist Alliance International. KHPS provides its pupils with a science-based background.

Orphans at BiZoHa will be allowed to attend KHPS.

Information about the construction of BiZoHa is catalogued HERE.

The initial GoFundMe campaign was wildly successful, due to the generosity of USA and international atheist contributors. Additional funding from charitable donors, however, would be a wonderful benefit to the orphanage.
