BBI funds are delivered to Pearl Women Group for Humanist Handicraft project

Posted: Mon, May 14, 2018 | By: Pearl College (Uganda)

Dear all,

I am pleased to let you know that following a proposal submitted to BBI; Pearl Women’s Development Group got funding of UGX 1,860,000/-

The money will enable the team buy materials; a paper cutting machine; market their products and ensure that they produce a hundred bags, bracelets and hats and ensure that it fetches them some profits which they can re-invest in their business and take some as simple loans for personal development.

Money to buy some of the materials was given to their chairperson Elected Woman Councillor at Local Council III; Kingo Sub-county Ms Nassaka Margaret and the other part of the money was given to the group Secretary.

While receiving the money, the TEAM leader Councillor Nassaka Margaret said: “I am happy to see the results of working with Pearl and BBI. As an elected leader I find it hard to have a community development project that can meet the demands of rural women satisfactorily when we lack the capital. I am extremely happy that we have some capital to start put life into the project. Your support make me a relevant leader in this Sub-county. Thank you”.

On her part; the Secretary of the group Ms Sharifa Nakabuye said : “I am happy to see that we can now have hope that our product quality will improve and our market will get bigger. Thanks to Pearl Vocational Training College for the skills and connection and thanks to BBI for the support. We now have lots of hope in this project that will improve on our livelihood. .”

PEARL administration will ensure that the proposal submitted by the women is followed and books of accounts are kept and progress reports are presented on this platform.

So far the group has made several beautiful items. Thanks so much to Brighter Brains Institute for this support.

Yours in Service,

Peter Claver Birimuye College Principal
