BBI 2017 Newsletter #1: Humanist Dormitories, Solar Lamps, Blankets, Medicine

Brighter Brains Institute began the new year with fantastic success — we’re constructing the new “Kasese Humanist Secondary School” — funds are already raised for four classrooms (Brighter Brains Classroom, Atheist Community of San Jose Classroom, Halton-Peel Humanist Community Classroom, Pellissier Science Classroom) and the latrine (donated by Pat Ketaner). All we need now are two dormitories - Boys and Girls - for students who board. To donate click HERE

Garama Secondary Humanist School students can’t see their homework late at night, without half-suffocating. Why? because their present method of illumination is candles and kerosene lamps. Choke, choke. We can fix this situation by providing them with Sun King Pico Portable Solar Lanterns. click HERE

Children in the Ruwenzori mountains are cold. In fact, many of them are getting respiratory diseases, like pneumonia, and dying. Infant mortality rate in Uganda is 10 times higher than in the USA. BBI’s goal is to keep everyone - especially the babies - in the village of Kabingo (population 550) warm, with good blankets. click HERE

Our clinics in Nyakiyumbu and Kanyenze need medicine, to combat the high rate of malaria, parasitic worms, and peptic ulcer disease, caused by malnutrition. Also needed are male and female condoms, and washable, reusable menstrual pads. click HERE

WANT TO JOIN US IN UGANDA? BBI is sending a posse of humanists to visit our humanist schools from approximately January 20-July 5. If you’re interested in going, contact
