Act for the Poor Association (APA) is a women’s organisation that started operations in 2012 at Rwensenene in Kagadi district of Central Uganda. It is formed of rural women who saw a need for women development and unity they seek to empower women economically.
The group has requested BBI for funds for condoms. They are in a region of Uganda where the influence of witchdoctors and Christian ministers is very strong, and condoms are difficult to obtain.
The group has also decided that neither the church of witchcraft can help them get out of poverty. They have “resolved that we can solve our own problems without going to the church neither witch craft. We shun the Bible teaching and witch craft activities.”
Brighter Brains Institute sent them funds for condoms—the funds are from Martin Kleman who donated extra funds to the recent GoFundMe for a Potato Farm in Kanungu. The GoFundMe surpassed its goal, so the extra funds will be sent to APA.
